Cognos Pre-Sales Technical Architect Opportunity with Great Company

Location: Dallas or OKC

This role is responsible for successful identification and presentation of Cognos Business Analytics solutions and services, in a client consulting environment.  This is an opportunity for a proactive pre-sales engineer to use their extensive networking skills to bring together knowledge and ideas from across different industries and turn them into sales propositions for the team that can be used to position and demonstrate IBM Cognos solutions.

This role has the responsibility for supporting the sales effort of different vertical industries and contribution to developing Cognos pipeline. You will do this by being a trusted partner to the client and our internal IBM team.   Your initial responsibility will include assisting the sales team in the identification of opportunities based upon the Cognos solutions and developing those identified opportunities into qualified opportunities. Additionally, you will support the sales team in developing and presenting sound solutions that meet/exceed client expectations in large account settings. This will also include the development of a total solution consisting of integrating IBM Cognos products and services to meet the client’s needs.

In so doing, you must demonstrate a clear understanding of the customers’ business, organization, culture and the compelling reasons to act. You will need to anticipate, develop and define innovative services solutions that match the clients and IBMs tactical and strategic requirements.   You will work closely with the sales team to meet and exceed company revenue targets, and assist prospects with solution qualification.   This role will also assist with responses to RFIs, preparation of proposals and presentation of solutions to clients.  Perform tailored on-site solution/product demonstrations.

This individual must be an excellent communicator, able to command the respect of both business-oriented and technically-oriented clients and colleagues. This position will require travel anywhere up to 50% of the time.

General Business Duties and Responsibilities

·         Possess and continue to build upon, in-depth knowledge of Cognos competitive products, and Business Intelligence industry trends.

·         Possess and continue to build an understanding of, and increased responsibilities for tasks associated with the sales cycle and customer anchoring process.

·         Execute project management tasks and activities. Develop successful implementation plans and lead customers through them.

·         Be actively involved during initial project scope activities.

·         Investigate new Cognos products and features and package them into marketable entities.

·         Report client status and personal activities according to branch and corporate standards.

·         Coordinate technical training for new company sales personnel

·         Understand and explain the features and benefits of Cognos products.

·         Compare and explain product features to those of the leading competitors.

·         Effectively demonstrate the functionality of Cognos Business Intelligence and/or FPM products.

·         Be proficient in demonstration skills and be able to show all Cognos Analytic products and articulate features, functions and benefits with a solutions sales approach.

·         Integrate prospect requirements with Cognos Analytic products.

·         Clearly communicate pertinent and significant information to appropriate team members.

·         Participate as key resource in Proof of Concept (PoC) evaluations

·         Conduct successful technical audit meetings with customers to clarify their production environment requirements.

·         Contact clients regularly in order to ensure customer satisfaction.

·         Ensure proposed solutions are achievable, profitable and realistic given client requirements.

·         Provide direct high-level technical support to customers as required occasionally.

·         Portray a professional image and present our company as a service-oriented, customer-centric organization.

Job Qualifications

·         College degree or equivalent with preferred background in Computer Science.

·         Two plus years experience working to support business applications and/or application development; including working with CRM, ERP, BPM, EIM solutions.

·         Experience working with Business Intelligence solutions, including: Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, Microstrategy, Brio or Open Source solutions.

·         Willingness to travel within sales territory.

·         Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.

·         Superiority with Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint presentations and remote demonstration software.

·         Good knowledge of the middle and back office roles and how they are designed to accommodate risk and regulation.

·         Experience in Working comfortably with high-level decision-makers within the Client environment including but not limited to CEO, CIO, and other policy-level executives.

·         Analytical and problem-solving mind-set and experience in multi-dimensional (OLAP) analysis and modeling.

·         Enthusiastic entrepreneurial spirit while working in a team environment.

·         Good written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

·         At least 3 years experience in developing reports, dashboards and cubes

·         At least 3 years experience in the understanding of BI/Data warehouse concepts, and/or financial performance management concepts.

·         At least 2 years experience in Cognos 10 Business Intelligence and/or Cognos Performance Management

·         At least 3 years experience in the implementation of reporting tools projects (Cognos, SAS, Microstrategy, etc)

·         Knowledge of management accounting principles (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statements), Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting experience is desirable with emphasis on business knowledge and background.

·         Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server 2008, IBM DB2 UDB 9.5, Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Oracle 11g, Microsoft Active Directory Server 2008, IIS, Internet Explorer 8, Microsoft .NET, Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE), VMware Workstation 7.1.5, Windows Microsoft Office 2007, JRE, and Apache Tomcat

·         Mobility solutions experience (device manufacturers; network providers; mobile network standards; on device applications; mobile web browser applications; SMS applications)
